As well as learning Mathematical principles, students in Mathematics at Oak Heights College are encouraged to develop their understanding  and problem solving abilities through the use investigations, projects and group work. Our overall aim is to ensure that all students are equipped with the necessary skills not just for entry into University but also for use in their future

The A-Level History course encourages students to develop their judgement, critical awareness and powers of expression. The English Department aim for all of our students is to master literature. Literature is taught at all levels. Studying literature is an opportunity to visit at first hand other times, other minds, other countries, other cultures – and to reassess your own times and culture. In studying literature students become familiar with how the English language works now and has worked in the
past, not just as a medium for everyday communication, but as a tool for a variety of purposes – to report, to persuade, to move people, to explore the subtleties of the individual mind and of social relationships in a variety of historical and contemporary settings.

Chemistry is a demanding and academically rigorous subject. Information must be memorised and applied in new contexts. Work must be presented with accuracy. The Biology department endeavours to develop students as scientifically literate inquirers who are able to think critically and creatively to solve problems and make decisions. If you have already taken your A Levels but failed to achieve the results you needed to progress into Medical school, you may be considering retaking your final year. The retake programme allows you to redo your A levels at a private school.
